While on annual leave from his job, Bill has had the good fortune to be an extra in five movies including: Dances With Wolves, Son of The Morning Star, Far and Away, Gettysburg, and Crazy Horse.
On these reenacting pages, Bill provides more details on what was like on each of these movies and reenacting, in general. He has kept journals through most of his experiences, and those on the set of Dances with Wolves have been published as Dakota Epic.

Son of The Morning Star was a made-for-TV movie about the Battle of the Little Big Horn which was filmed in Montana.

"The movie Far and Away was filmed in 1991. The final scene of the movie was the 1890 Oklahoma land rush. It was filmed at Pryor Creek, Montana near Billings. This site was selected because the film company could not find a site in Oklahoma without modern manmade structures on the horizon."

"The 1st Nebraska participated in Gettysburg during the Pickett’s charge scenes. We started out as Confederates. Many of the 1st Nebraska members were in the opening Pickett’s charge scene which takes place on the actual battlefield on Pennsylvania."
